We know there are a lot of quality activities available to parents today from music to art, academics and athletics, all geared towards optimal children’s development and experiences. Why is gymnastics good for everyone?
Beyond the obvious FUN, gymnastics builds life skills for healthy and fit bodies. Through movement exploration, our bodies get stronger and more capable, but did you know that movement affects brain development too? What children accomplish physically helps activate their brains for higher learning concepts and more advanced life skills. Grasping the rings leads to better hand-eye coordination, walking on the beam leads to balancing on a bicycle, a V-sit leads to core strength and good posture, sitting in circle time leads to school readiness. With all the movement we encourage here at Junebug’s Gym — crawling, walking, balancing, swinging, rolling, tumbling, dancing, jumping, skipping — we are not just building future gymnastics stars, we are developing well-rounded human beings.
And it’s not just gymnastics skills — they are learning control over their bodies, self-confidence, courage, perseverance, focus, patience. They learn how to take turns. They learn to try again. They learn that moving their bodies is FUN. Mastering a skill is FUN. Gymnastics is FUN.
